Regional Quiz (Evangeline Branch)
22 March 2014
Middleton, NS
Four competitors from Tantramar Pony Club travelled to the regional quiz organized by the Evangeline branch on March 22. This was a huge event with over 80 Nova Scotia Pony Club members gathered at the Middleton School for a day of challenge and fun.
The day started very early for some of our group who had to be on the road before 5:30am. Quynn, Gracie, Haley and Robin made up our Tantramar team. Quynn and Haley were competing at the E/D level and scrambled with two Evangeline members to make one team. Gracie and Robin were competing at the D1/D2 level and scrambled with two more Evangeline members as another team.
The written part was first. In this phase each member completes an individual written test. This was followed by “stations”. Here members carry out various tasks and puzzles, word-games, identifying horse related gear and tack, feed samples, putting bridles together blindfolded and loads of other fun and challenging stuff.
Our competitors did very well. Some highlights were Haley’s individual 5th place, our E/D team won a 1st place team award and our D1/D2 took 8th place. Well done all!
Thanks to drivers Glen Gorveatte and Gay Hansen and also to the back seat chanting section who kept everyone awake and on their toes.
